Our President's Bio:

Max Buchanan

Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering & Technology.

“I started designing and building floor scraping machines in 1986 – that’s over 36 years!

My designs have been copied more than any other machine. Today almost every machine built has some version of one of my ideas.

I was a flooring contractor for over 25 years. This experience and hands on work gave me the ideas needed to get the job done.

14 years of building machines and hands on operating motivated me to the design and manufacturing of the WORKHORSE 2000. The first 4-wheel drive diesel powered floor scraper.

The need for a smaller propane powered unit led me to designing and building the WORKHORSE 1000. Twenty years later the WORKHORSE 1000 stands alone in the industry as one of the most dependable floor scrapers on the market to get the job done.  The design of the WORKHORSE 1000 twenty years ago has stood the test of time.

Our patented design has been the inspiration for all floor scrapers today. Floor scrapers used to be built without any differential movement between the blade and the floor. Contractors had to have a person clean the floor in front of the scraper or the scraping blade may not stay under the material being removed.

Big box stores and demolition contractors created a need for skid steers loaders to do floor removal as well. This led to the design and manufacture of the WORKHORSE skid steer floor scraper attachment. This attachment like the WORKHORSE 1000 has been doing floor removal for twenty years as well. It has become a very successful tool for demolition companies.

With the knowledge and experience of design and manufacturing we at Onsite Equipment Manufacturing can say we have the equipment for you to get the job done and make you, the contractor money. We stand behind what we say 100%.

No other floor scraper manufacturer today has a 100% guaranty like ours!”

Our Machines:

The Workhorse 1000 is an extremely versatile floor tile scraper. Able to remove the worst of today’s glued down floors including commercial carpet, wood, ceramic, gummy adhesives, VCT, solid vinyl, radial rubber tile, sheet rubber, indoor and outdoor sport surfaces, roofing material and much more. Designed and built to stay on the floor and under the material being removed even if the wheels of the machine ride over a wooden 2×4.

It is small enough to fit through a standard doorway and short enough to fit into a small elevator as its overall length is 49inch. The net weight of the Workhorse 1000 floor scraper is only 1,100lbs (with all the weights removed). Light enough to not overload most small elevators. Unlike the competition this floor scraper has a large 8inch diameter front caster wheel and 5inch ground clearance to manoeuvring over rough areas.

To comply with the stringent EPA regulations, the Workhorse 1000 has a propane certified engine which is air cooled, with forward speeds near 6mph, this machine can move quickly across a large jobsite.

The Workhorse 1000 comes equipped with either a single blade holder tube or three blade holder tubes. A 24″ blade holder (sold seporately) allows the operator to scape to the wall. This system is very convenient and much more productive than going back and forth to entirely remove the flooring product.

As an optional extra, our machines can be fitted with additional suitcase style weights to increase the down pressure at the blade for those super tough removal jobs. The maximum weight of the floor scraper loaded with these optional weights is 2,800lbs. Generally, the standard weight of 2,240lbs is usually sufficient for most floor scraping jobs. Typically, the removal of ceramic tile is the most demanding covering to remove. Therefore, we recommend the added weight in order to keep the ceramic removal tool sliding on the concrete underneath the ceramic tile.

The Workhorse Skid Steer Attachment floor scraper attachment was designed and is built to handle the most demanding removal jobs and with unbelievable productivity. The floor scraper attachment will fit any brand, any manufacture from 18hp to100hp skid steer. The quick attach mounting plate allows for changing implements quickly and easily.

The Workhorse Skid Steer Attachment comes standard with three tube holders, a 24-inch blade holder and will fit any size machine with a quick attach system.

Our patented floating blade holder ensures that the blades remain level even when the skid steer is uneven while going over debris.

The blade can be rotated 180 degrees placing the sharp edge against the floor, this will avoid the need to sharpen the blade. The three-tube arrangement is designed to remove material closer to a wall.
